Phantom Blade Zero Explained for New Players

The game

Phantom Blade Zero is an action game from S-GAME about Soul, an assassin with 66 days to live. The official site lists PlayStation 5 and PC, and prints 29 October 2026.

This page is a way in. It is not a wiki mirror, a build guide, or an ending map. Those need a finished game and a separate check.

What the game is

S-GAME publishes Phantom Blade Zero. The English homepage calls the direction Kungfupunk and describes a blend of wuxia, fantasy, and folk horror. The Simplified homepage uses 功夫朋克. The Traditional homepage uses 功夫龐克. The English line under the title is “The Lone Wolf’s Path.”

In a PlayStation essay dated 24 May 2023, studio founder Soulframe Liang calls the project the spiritual rebirth of Rainblood: Town of Death, the RPG Maker game he dates to 2010. He also writes that the studio’s Phantom Blade phone games were mostly unreleased outside China, and that the new game moves to Unreal Engine 5.

Setting and story premise

The same 2023 essay introduces Soul as an elite assassin of a group called The Order. He is framed for the murder of its patriarch, is badly hurt, and is kept alive by a cure that lasts 66 days. The world is named the Phantom World: kung fu, machine-work that Liang compares with steampunk, and occult arts.

An August 2026 PlayStation post uses another word, the Wulin, for “our dark wuxia world,” and says side quests can open story paths. The story page keeps these statements in the order they were published and does not turn them into an ending guide.

Combat at a glance

The August 2026 post says the player unlocks more than 30 main weapons and 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges, then upgrades, pairs, and can reforge them to recover materials. Donnie Yen is named as creative consultant and as the performed role Mó Yuan.

A letter from Liang on 2 June 2026 recalls 2025 showcases of the Seven-Star Sword Formation, a lion dance, and a drunken sword. The flexible sword has its own page. Terms are given in Combat and the weapon index.

Where to start

Read the FAQ for platforms, the official PC requirements, and the links that actually sell the game. Read the play-order page before assuming a phone game is required. Read the glossary when an English name and a Chinese name do not match.

Prices, regional clocks, and patch notes move. This record links the official page and dates the visit. It does not keep a second copy of the store.
