Flexible sword

The weapon discussed here is the one the Epic recap of the August 2026 deep dive calls the Soft Snake Sword, 灵蛇软剑. The blade is said to twist and wrap an incoming weapon before a precise strike.

The primary name is Soft Snake Sword, with 灵蛇软剑 in Chinese. Venomous softblade stands beside it as an alternate name.

Names and version

Three strings have to stay apart. Soft Snake Sword and 灵蛇软剑 are a pair inside one Epic article dated 19 August 2026. “Flexible sword” is the plain description used on this site. Venomous softblade is an unverified search alias. The June 2026 director letter does not use these names. It remembers a drunken sword, a lion dance, and a seven-star formation among the 2025 showcases, not this blade.

A GamerSky report on 30 July 2025 says Liang, in an interview with STN, offered the flexible sword as a kind of weapon that expresses feeling, and that players outside China might find it harder to read than a large axe. That is a report of an interview. It is not a transcript, and it does not fix the English UI name.

What footage shows

The Epic recap states that the blade twists, binds another weapon, and breaks the guard. Length, mass, steel, and menu role are absent from that account, and this page does not supply measurements.

No still from the trailer is reproduced. The plate at the top is type, so the page can be read without taking the studio’s images.

Movement explained

Within the recap, the movement is a control idea: a soft line that catches another weapon and then punishes it. That is enough to tell it apart from the drunken style, which the same recap describes as staggering footwork and a drunkenness value, and from the serpent pair, which circles the body.

It is not enough to reconstruct a martial lineage. The studio’s choreographers are described, in the Epic interview, as people who know historical use and then gamify it. Knowing that process does not identify which historical form, if any, was the reference for this sword.

Real-world context

A sword that bends on screen can come from three different places: a prop made to flex for performance, a fictional weapon in wuxia storytelling, or a misunderstanding of a rigid historical blade. The next page keeps those three apart. The game object remains a game object.
